accessibility
The Greenprint Denver Web site follows best practices and design standards to provide an optimal browsing experience for all users, including those with disabilities. We incorporate the following principles to enhance usability and accessibility:
Web Standards
This site uses a set of baseline technologies, including XHTML 1.0 Transitional and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). It voluntarily strives for compliance with standards of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative, including Priority Levels 1 and 2 of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 and federal government Section 508 standards.
Universal Design
This site is designed to work effectively with most Web browsers, including multiple versions of Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera and others. It is optimized to display content quickly and transform well across multiple display devices, from low-resolution mobile units to high-resolution laptop and desktop computer monitors. The site does not rely on the use of color to convey vital information, and content is viewable by those who have high-contrast and high-magnification computing environments.
Device Independence
All functionality and links on this site are keyboard accessible so that people may access content and perform tasks without relying on a mouse or other input device. Pop-up windows that cause hyperlinks to open in a new browser window have been avoided. Script content and functionality is accessible to assistive technologies. Forms use device-independent event handlers and controls do not cause a change of context without user input.
Structured Documents
This site uses a consistent design for all related documents. Content is grouped and organized into a hierarchy, and proper semantic elements such as headings are used to markup page structure and text presentation. Hidden links have been placed at the beginning of each section to enable quick navigation and scanning with a screen reader. The layout of the site does not use tables, which are only used for displaying data.
Additional Technologies
This site offers portions of content in the Portable Document Format (PDF), which may require the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in for viewing.
